BAMBINELLI SUNDAY

Don’t forget that next week (15th December) the Third Sunday of Advent we will once again celebrate Bambinelli Sunday. When we bring the Baby Jesus figures from the cribs in our homes to be blessed during mass.

ADVENT - JESSE TREE

Instead of an Advent Wreath this year we have a ‘Jesse Tree”. The Jesse tree is a symbolic way of presenting the story of God's love and action in the lives of his people throughout the centuries. The name comes from Scripture: "But a shoot shall sprout from the stump of Jesse, and from his roots a bud shall blossom" (Isaiah 11:1). Jesse was the father of King David in the Old Testament. He is often looked upon as the first person in the genealogy of Jesus. The Jesse Tree is a way to connect the season of Advent to God's faithfulness to his people for over four thousand years. The Jesse Tree is like a family tree that shows Jesus' ancestry. Traditionally a different symbolic ornament is placed on the Jesse Tree for each of the days of Advent.
